On July 18, 2024, 46 third-year electrical engineering students from Khwopa College of Engineering, accompanied by faculty members Er. Dhurba Karki, Er. Gaurab Tamrakar, and Er. Tanus Bikram Malla, and Er. Abhishek Wagle visited the NEA Transformer Workshop in Kharipati, Bhaktapur. This visit was part of the "Electric Machine Design" course, offering students an invaluable practical learning experience.
The primary objectives of the field visit were to observe the operations of a transformer workshop, understand its management system and technology, and appreciate the role of engineers in such a setting.
The day was meticulously planned into two main sessions. The first session began with Er. Pradip Adhikari, Er. Sajeeb Shrestha, and Er. Gautam Kumar Yadav greeted and oriented the students. They were divided into three groups, and the core, winding, and testing sections of a 150KVA 11/0.4KV distribution transformer were examined. The supervising engineers provided each group with hands-on guidance, connecting theoretical knowledge to practical applications. In the second session, like the morning session, students continued their exploration in their designated sections, gaining a better understanding of transformer operations and maintenance procedures. The visit was deemed highly effective and educational. Both students and faculty members learned extensively about transformer maintenance and the practical aspects of their coursework.
