On Shrawan 4, 2081, third-year B.E. Electrical students, along with faculty members Er. Ekata Niraula, Er. Gaurab Tamrakar, and Er. Tanus Bikram Malla and Er. Abhishek Wagle from Khwopa College of Engineering participated in a case study tour at Gorkha Red Bricks Pvt. Ltd. in Kavre District. The visit was part of the Instrumentation II course, which focuses on real-world applications of measurement and control systems in industrial settings.
The field visit aimed to provide students with hands-on experience in an industrial environment, emphasizing the basic measurement requirements, accuracy, and specific hardware employed in process control. The visit included the site visit where the students were divided into 16 groups and conducted in-depth studies of the factory's process control systems, electrical systems, and motors. They also conducted interviews with engineers and technical personnel involved in the operations. During the visit, students explored various components of the brick manufacturing process, including understanding the industry's systems, such as the process of purifying mud to make clay from debris and stone separation processes, mixing of dry coal and mud with water, and the subsequent brick-cutting process—finally, temperature monitoring by examining the interface for roasting and drying kilns.
The visit provided valuable insights into the practical aspects of instrumentation and control in an industrial setting. Students gained a deeper understanding of the operational challenges and the technical skills required.
