On July 18, 2025 (2nd Shrawan, 2082), 27 students from the 5th semester of the Electrical Engineering program visited Gorkha Red Brick Factory located in Basdol, Kavre. The visit was supervised by faculty members Er. Shreeshuva Maharjan and Mr. Rojan Tamang, with support from factory representatives Ms. Amrita Shrestha and Mr. Sunil Sulu. This field trip provided students with a valuable opportunity to observe and understand the application of electrical systems and instrumentation in an industrial setting.
The factory features a fully automated brick manufacturing process, utilizing electric heating systems instead of traditional coal or wood-fired kilns. This environmentally friendly method not only enhances production efficiency but also significantly reduces air pollution and carbon emissions, contributing to sustainable industrial development.
Students were divided into two groups and given guided tours of the plant’s electrical distribution, control systems, and instrumentation devices. Throughout the visit, students actively engaged with the factory representatives by asking questions and clarifying technical details related to automation and process control.
This visit effectively bridged the gap between classroom learning and practical engineering. By witnessing how electrical energy powers automation and supports sustainable manufacturing, students gained deeper insight into the role of electrical engineering in modern industry and environmental stewardship.
