A team of joint secretary-level trainees from the Nepal Administrative Training Academy conducted an on-site study tour on Sunday, 18 Shrawan, 2082, of Khwopa College of Engineering and Khwopa Engineering College, institutions run by Bhaktapur Municipality.
The team was warmly welcomed by Er. Sunil Duwal, Principal of Khwopa College of Engineering. The visit aimed to gain insights into how Bhaktapur Municipality has been working to enhance educational opportunities, particularly in the engineering sector.
During an interactive session, Principal Er. Sunil Duwal gave a detailed overview of the colleges, including their history, mission, infrastructure, organizational structure, academic programs, faculty, staff, student enrollment, and fee structures. He also emphasized the importance of the motto "Quality Education at Affordable Fee," which reflects the municipality’s dedication to education and human resource development.
Mr. Krishna Govinda Suwal, representative from Bhaktapur Municipality, and Mr. Sanjaya Manandhar, Administrative Officer of the college, were also present to share further insights and answer queries from the visiting team.
The delegation included officials such as Dr. Archana Shrestha, Deputy Director General at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology; Mr. Chakrapani Pandey, Director General of the Department of Labor and Occupational Safety; Mr. Asyan Tamang, Joint Secretary at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (Physical Infrastructure); Mr. Amrit Shrestha, Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development, Bagmati Province; Mr. Nawaraj Dhakal, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development; Mr. Indradev Bhatta, Secretary of Karnali Province; and Mr. Baikuntha Adhikari, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
During the visit, the team showed particular interest in understanding the "Khwopa Model" and the educational strategies implemented by Bhaktapur Municipality. The discussion also emphasized the role of engineering colleges and the upcoming Khwopa University in developing skilled human resources to support the country’s development.
The study tour concluded with an appreciation of Bhaktapur Municipality's dedication to quality education and the unique community-based approach that has contributed to the success of Khwopa institutions.
