The Kathmandu University’s Computation Mathematics Club recently organized a two-day workshop titled "Quantum Computing and Post Quantum Computing." Representatives from Khwopa College of Engineering, Er. Dinesh Gothe, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, and Er. Dinesh Ghemosu from the Department of Electrical Engineering, participated in the program. The event, held on March 26 and 27, commenced with a presentation on "Introduction to Quantum Physics" by Prof. Dr. Deepak Subedi from KU. It was inaugurated in the presence of various dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Janardan Lamichhane, Dean of the School of Science, and Prof. Dr. Manish Pokhrel, Dean of the School of Engineering, along with heads of departments, faculty members, students, and approximately 26 participants from diverse academic and industrial backgrounds.
On the first day of the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Gokul K.C. from the Department of Mathematics delivered two sessions covering topics such as "Fundamentals of Quantum Computing" and "Quantum Teleportation, Deutsch Algorithm." The following day commenced with Dr. Gokul KC presenting on "Introduction to Post Quantum Cryptography," emphasizing the significance of research in this area and its associated algorithms. Subsequently, Mr. Mukesh Tiwari discussed "Multivariate Cryptography," while Miss Priyanka Panta provided insights into "Code-Based Cryptography," including hands-on training.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gokul KC, followed by closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Rajendra Kayastha, Head of the Mathematics Department. Prof. Dr. Kayastha also distributed certificates to all participants, while Prof. Dr. Janardan Lamichhane presented certificates of appreciation to the presenters.
