Bhaktapur, 20, Bhadra, 2082 — Khwopa College of Engineering (KhCE) and Khwopa Engineering College (KhEC), institutions run by Bhaktapur Municipality, signed separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Confucius Institute at Tribhuvan University (CI@TU) to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Bal Ram Duwal, Nepal-side Acting Director of CI@TU, and Er. Sujan Maka, on behalf of Khwopa Engineering College and Er. Sunil Duwal, Principal of Khwopa College of Engineering, in the presence of witnesses Prof. Zhang Xingnian, China-side Director of CI@TU, and Dr. Subegman Bijukchhen, Vice Principal of KhEC and Er. Ratna Shova Prajapati, Vice Principal of KhCE.
The agreement seeks to set up a Chinese Language Teaching Point at KhEC and KhCE, offering both credit and non-credit courses for students, faculty, and staff. It also covers areas such as:
Addressing the program, Er. Sujan Maka, Principal of Khwopa Engineering College, said that the initiative reflects Bhaktapur Municipality’s commitment to developing its educational institutions into centers of academic excellence with global connections. He expressed that the MoU would not only enhance language education but also strengthen the foundation for future academic collaborations.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Er. Sunil Duwal emphasized that the partnership will broaden academic horizons and cooperation between the college and institutions from China to foster academic and research activities creating opportunities for cross-cultural learning. Dr. Bal Ram Duwal highlighted the role of CI@TU in fostering mutual understanding between Nepal and China through language and cultural exchange.
Similarly, Prof. Zhang Xingnian, China-side Director of CI@TU, expressed his pleasure in collaborating with Khwopa College of Engineering and Khwopa Engineering College. He noted that the MoU would deepen Nepal–China educational cooperation and provide students with greater access to Chinese language and culture, while fostering mutual friendship and academic growth between the two nations.
Also speaking at the program, Mr. Rajendra Chawal, Chinese Language Instructor, discussed the significance of Chinese language classes, stressing that learning Chinese would open doors for students in both academic and professional fields. Likewise, Mr. Sanjaya Manandhar, Head of the Administration Section of KhCE, highlighted the importance of the MoU in strengthening institutional development and facilitating international exposure for both faculty and students.
